01 - 4 frankfurter or hot dog sausages
02 - 4 long hot dog buns

01 - Heat the sausages according to package instructions: grill, pan-fry, or simmer in hot water for about 5–7 minutes until heated through.
02 - Lightly toast the buns on the grill or in the oven for 1–2 minutes, if desired.
03 - Place one hot sausage in each bun.
04 - Top each hot dog with mustard, ketchup, relish, and chopped onion.
05 - Add optional garnishes such as cheese, sauerkraut, or jalapeños, if desired.
06 - Serve immediately while warm.
